Publication Ethic Guide

 SIBERTEK Journal is a journal published by the Information Systems Department, Faculty of Science and Technology, Pignatelli Triputra University. SIBERTEK is an academic journal published online, containing articles or scientific works from research in the fields of Information Systems, Cyber Business, and Technology.

This statement on scientific publication ethics serves as a code of ethics for all parties involved in the publication process of this journal, including the managers, editors, reviewers, and authors. The Scientific Publication Ethics Code prioritizes three ethical values in publication, namely: (i) Neutrality, which means being free from conflicts of interest in publication management; (ii) Fairness, which means granting authorship rights to the rightful parties; and (iii) Honesty, which means being free from duplication, fabrication, falsification, and plagiarism in publications.

After reading this Scientific Publication Ethics, please download          Publication Ethics Statement          and Copyright Agreement.          Please sign and submit the Publication Ethics Statement as part of your first article submission. The Copyright Agreement must be submitted before the article can be published. The Publication Ethics Statement and Copyright Agreement can be sent via post, email, or fax.    

Responsibilities of Journal Manager

  1. Determine the journal’s name, scope, periodicity, and accreditation if necessary.
  2. Determine the membership of the editorial board.
  3. Define the relationship between the publisher, editors, reviewers, and other parties in a contract.
  4. Respect confidentiality matters, including for researchers, authors, editors, and reviewers.
  5. Apply norms and regulations related to intellectual property rights, especially copyright.
  6. Conduct journal policy reviews and communicate them to authors, editors, reviewers, and readers.
  7. Create a code of conduct for editors and reviewers.
  8. Publish the journal regularly.
  9. Ensure the availability of funding for the sustainability of the journal's publication.
  10. Establish partnerships and marketing networks.
  11. Prepare permits and other legal aspects

Responsibilities of Editors

  1. Meet the needs of readers and authors.
  2. Promote the continuous improvement of publication quality.
  3. Implement processes to ensure the quality of the published works.
  4. Prioritize freedom of opinion in an objective manner.
  5. Maintain the integrity of authors’ academic records.
  6. Provide corrections, clarifications, retractions, and apologies if necessary.
  7. Be responsible for the style and format of the work, while the content and all statements in the work are the responsibility of the authors.       
  8. Actively solicit feedback from authors, readers, reviewers, and editorial board members to improve publication quality.       
  9. Encourage the assessment of the journal if any issues are found.       
  10. Support initiatives to reduce research and publication errors by asking authors to attach an Ethics Clearance form approved by the Ethics Committee.       
  11. Support initiatives to educate researchers about publication ethics.       
  12. Review the impact of editorial policies on authors' and reviewers' attitudes and improve them to enhance responsibility and minimize errors.       
  13. Keep an open mind towards new opinions or views that may contradict personal beliefs.       
  14. Do not uphold personal opinions, those of authors, or third parties that may result in subjective decisions.       
  15. Encourage authors to make improvements to the work until it is suitable for publication.   

Responsibilities of Reviewers   

  1. Receive assignments from editors to review written works and provide the results to the editors for determining the suitability of a manuscript for publication.       
  2. Reviewers should not review works that involve them, either directly or indirectly.       
  3. Maintain the privacy of the authors by not disclosing the results of corrections, suggestions, and recommendations, and provide criticism, suggestions, and feedback.       
  4. Encourage authors to improve their works.       
  5. Review the revised works according to the predetermined standards.       
  6. Review works in a timely manner based on the editorial guidelines and scientific principles (data collection methods, authors' legitimacy, conclusions, etc.).       

Responsibilities of Authors     

  1. Ensure that those listed as authors meet the criteria for authorship.       
  2. Be collectively responsible for the work and content of the article, including the methods, analysis, calculations, and details.       
  3. Declare the source of resources (including funding), whether directly or indirectly.       
  4. Explain the limitations of the research.       
  5. Respond to comments made by reviewers in a professional and timely manner.       
  6. Inform the editor if they intend to withdraw their work.       
  7. Make a statement that the submitted work is original, has not been published elsewhere in any language, and is not under consideration by another publisher.
